Adding Verbs To My Life

Since I won't be spending money any time soon, I may as well stay busy and productive. Here are my plans:

I will continue my spring cleaning and decluttering.

I will do lots of yard work Spring through Autumn. My yard has never looked such a mess. I intend to change that!

Beach days with the family. Also walking nature trails, picnics, park days, geocaching....whatever we can find to do together that doesn't cost money.

Family Fun Nights: either playing board games or watching a movie. Homemade treats are a must!

Enjoying free community events.

I have oodles of cross-stitch projects just waiting for my time and attention.

Get togethers with family and friends.

Stocking my pantry and freezer at the lowest prices.

Putting in a small garden.

Learn more about becoming as self-sufficient as we can and put those practical skills to good use so we can keep more of our money in our pockets!

Shoot pool in the comfort of our own home.

Read lots of books (from the library!).

I'm sure are more things I can do, but this is just a brainstorming list I thought of. Please share your ideas in the comments!

Have less. Do more!

My goals are similar. With the sky high heating bills this winter, I have no choice but to cut costs.

What I have learned (again) is that I use shopping at an emotional fix. It makes me feel better (for a minute or two) to buy things. Plain and simple. I am owning that, and it is helping me to cope.

All the offers to my in box are amazing! I don't have television, so the advertisers have found an alternative way to weasel their way in to my view. lol

The first step to recovery is admitting you have a problem, right?

It is indeed, Ociana! I can admit to feeling better after purchasing things occasionally.

Go Fruit picking at the right season for each fruit, yes it cost a bit but not as much as fruit in the store, and gives you family time.

You can then make Jams or jellies to give as gifts and keep a bit for yourself too.

Teach your girls to sew crochet or some other craft. to make gifts

Frisbee just came to my mind too, would give you exercise and fun family time for you.

Hi Tracy, doing stuff at home with stuff you already have is very easy on the budget.
I am doing Swagbucks to earn a little extra and am also making a bit with Adsense on my blog, ever thought about adding it?

Peggy, thanks so much for the offer! Write to me at Rosehavencottage at yahoo dot com and I will gladly share my address!

Rhonda, I do swagbucks also! How does Adsense work?

Lilac Dreams - Frisbee is something I hadn't thought of. I, myself, do not how to sew or crochet...but I'm sure I could come up with some crafty things for them to via Pinterest!

hi Tracy, you won't get rich fast but you can earn with AdSense, It is hard to know exactly they will put different ads on your blog that I think apply to things you have blogged about or things your readers have searched for. You can filter the ads, like no gambling or alcohol or adult- there are lots of categories.
Look at your blogs dashboard and go to earnings and follow the links for AdSense. It takes a bit to get it set up but when you earn $100, it goes to your direct deposit.
I have ads on all my blogs. You can see them, there is one at the top right, one at the bottom of each post and maybe one at the bottom of the whole page.
How much you earn from each click, not purchase, just click will vary from 20 cents to maybe a $1.
It costs you nothing to set it up and the ads are small. I am not an expert, I just started doing it a little while ago.
the more clicks your ads get, the more you earn. Your own clicks don't count or count against you, not sure.
Hope that helps, I am not an expert on it but I do know lots of bloggers make great blog income, I am just doing AdSense to help out a little as it seems easy.

I used to scan the penny pincher and local papers for free things to do with my kids. Don't forget the old fashioned plain old fun things like picnics and blowing bubbles, flying kites, etc. I used to save trash items (cereal boxes, plastic bottles, glass jars etc) and Katie would use them to make all sorts of crafty items. I know your girls are a bit older and might find it lame but they might try remaking old pieces of clothing into new ones and such using simple sewing and craft techniques. I used to mix my nail polishes to come up with unique and new colors, too.

You can do this Tracy!
