The Benefits of Living a Simple Life

(source: Pinterest)

Living a simple life is about keeping life, well, simple. For me, it's about removing everything that is not needed or used in order to create a life of authenticity. It's about streamlining life in order to eliminate as much stress as possible.

~ Finances: By choosing simplicity, I am improving our financial state. Because I am not looking to buy things that are not needed, I can focus on building our savings and reducing our debt.

~ Reducing Stress: When you choose a simpler life, you greatly reduce stress because you are not keeping up with the Joneses. You have less to maintain. You have less debt. Life becomes more carefree.

~ Quality Time: Having more time to spend with family, friends, hobbies, and pursuing interests is a benefit of living a simple life. Having less to maintain opens up time for the things that truly matter.

~ Freedom: By choosing to consume less and reduce debt, you are gaining more freedom. Freedom to leave a job you hate or reducing the number of hours you must work.

~ Environmentally Friendly: Having less means you have a smaller carbon footprint. You are reducing, reusing, and recycling. You are driving less, eating healthier, and using less energy therefore reducing the negative impact on the environment.

There are many benefits to living a simple life. By choosing simplicity and not being an avid consumer, you are eliminating complications, easing your burdens, and have more freedom to do the things that are important to you.

Have less. Do more.

Loved this Tracy!
I think the one we forget about the most, when thinking about a 'simple life' ...is FREEDOM.
When we have less, there is less to maintain; and when there is less debt--you do have the freedoms like you said...to choose where to work or whether to work outside the home at all!
Most of the time, I think-- simple living is hard work, and I tend to think the opposite of freedom-- simple living is too restrictive. I bet most people think the same at some point. So this is a good reminder.
