Gratitude

This week I am thankful for:

~ Moist, delicious chocolate cake.

~ Each precious minute I have to spend with my husband before he deploys.

~ Having time to read and thoroughly enjoying it.

~ Working in my home to create a cozy nest for my family.

~ That the days, while still warm, are not stifling hot and the nights are a wee bit cooler. Autumn is coming, slowly but surely.

What are you thankful for this week?

There is nothing I love better than decorating my home on a budget! With a little creativity and a willingness to DIY, you can make a beautiful home without spending a lot of money.

I purchased this little wall sticker at Dollar Tree for $1. I placed in the dining room over the entry way to the kitchen.

This cute little acorn was just $4 at Dollar General. I fell in love with it right away and just had to have it!

I placed the acorn above my sink area that is decorated for Autumn.

Here is a closer view of the acorn with one of my favorite pieces, the white owl vase that I purchased a few months ago for $10 at Trees and Trends. I have a thing for owls...they fascinate me. :)

Thanks for visiting and for your sweet comments!

Have a blessed weekend!

My Front Porch

I love changing up the look of my home - inside and out. Earlier this week, I decorated the front porch for Halloween.

Below: An Autumn garland with Halloween-colored mini-lights with tombstones and a haunted house figurine tucked in for interest.

At night, so you can see the lights....

My witch and an autumn wreath fashioned from a leaf gardland...

Better photo of the wicked witch...

Slappy, the ventriloquist dummy, from R.L. Stine's "Night of The Living Dummy". Isn't he creepy?

Yep, pretty creepy!

Halloween signs....

Thank you for visiting my front porch!

Currently Reading...

Being home, I now have a little more time to read than I did while working. I really missed reading good books! My current selections are:

Maris by Grace Livingston Hill

(I like true crime books!)

(A re-read, but I love it!)

Keys to the Castle by Donna Ball

What are you currently reading?

Fluffing My Nest

Last night, my neighbor across the street gave me a whole bunch of home goods she was going to take to charity. I spent the day fluffing my nest, making it cozy and warm for the Autumn and Winter months.

The little round table, lamp, and faux plant are new additions to our home along with the floral rug beneath the two chairs.

Also new to this area are the grapevine wreath and the sheer curtain I fashioned above the mirror.

A better shot of the rug...

In the corner, there is a new cloth over the end table....

The large area rug is a new (and very welcome) addition to the living room along with the faux cactus and cinnamon scented candles on the table. Oh and the sheers and lined drapes hanging on the window are "new", too!

Just a closer shot of the tabletop....

The fish bowl in the center hold real shells the girls find at the beach each year.

Thank you for visiting, as always!
