Gratitude week 3

This week I am thankful for:
*
1. Had a fun day out with my best friend browsing in antique shops and a thrift store.
*
2. Spent $31 for a pair of brown cords, a pair of shorts, three long-sleeved shirts, a cute blue sweater, and a dressy tank.
*
3. It warmed up beautifully today! After several days of bitter cold, it was nice enough this afternoon to sit outdoors in jeans and a t-shirt.
*
4. An inspiring book to help me incorporate a healthier lifestyle.
*
5. A sleep mask to block out light during an afternoon nap.
*
Each day on my other blog, A Year with Simple Abundance, I share five things each day that I am thankful for. Care to join and share along with me?

Hmm...

Laurie asked me how things are going and if I am enjoying work.

Things are going well and, surprisingly, I do enjoy working - although the work is far from glamorous! :) I am getting more hours which is a good thing. Tonight, though, I am very tired. I've been getting to sleep a bit later than usual and it's catching up with me. Thankfully, I am off work until Sunday!

On the days I work, I only do the basics of home-keeping for I don't have the time or energy to do more. I tackle things like decluttering and deeper cleaning on my days off.

Alfred is currently away at training and returns home in nine days. We don't get to talk much...just a few minutes at a time and I miss him. Such is the life of a soldier's wife.

I can tell you one thing. I am sick to death of this cold weather. I think I much prefer summer's heat and humidity than being cold. Our heat wasn't working today at work and we all about froze to death up there! Don't worry. It's fixed now! I just hope it stays that way.

So that's what's going on here in my little corner of the world...

Scrub a Dub Dub

It's been a busy morning so far. I have tackled scrubbing the carpet in the office and dining room with a bucket of hot water with a little Clorox 2 added and a scrub brush. Yes, I do it the old fashioned way....on my hands and knees. It gives a good workout and the carpet comes out cleaner overall, I think. Having a light beige carpet with dogs and children running about....it doesn't take long for it to get dirty. Eventually I'd like to change it to gray colored carpet.

Last night I hung curtains up over my closet. I had these curtains already on hand so it didn't cost me a penny! The curtain on Alfred's closet needs to be hemmed and I will tackle that this evening.

I have so much work yet to do on this house. I'm still decluttering and deep-cleaning. One thing I need is shelves! I'm thinking about something like this, with different colors of course:

It is so fun to dream and plan for the changes you want to make in your home. I will be doing a little at a time as I have the engery and finances for all the projects I want to tackle.

Happy Dreaming!

Dreaming of Spring

Are you dreaming of Spring? I am. It is okay for it be cold on Christmas Eve and Christmas, but other than that I'd prefer it to be reasonably warm. I do my best to not complain and grumble, but it is not easy.

Alfred left this afternoon for 2 weeks of training for the Army and it's Kendall's 18th birthday. We had his party last weekend though so Alfred could be here for it. How I love that boy of mine. He is so funny, handsome and is as sweet as pie!

I am currently reading Sarah Ban Breathnach's newest book, Peace and Plenty. I am enjoying it very much. If you are fan of SBB's writing, you are sure to enjoy it as well!

I don't have to go back to work until Monday, so I will be cleaning and doing more decluttering on my house and spending time with the kids.

Stay warm!
