Frugal Doings

We're finding ourselves between a rock and a hard place. Alfred's work is ridiculously slow and we're having to take drastic measures.

~ Cancelled cable service which will save us $48/month or $576/year

~ Received a dime from a solicitation for money by mail which I added to the change jar.

~ Listed Alfred's motorcycle on Craigslist - hoping it will sell asap.

~ Calling creditors to let them know what's going on and to see if they will work with us...so far, so good.

~ Found three food pantries in town that can help us with food.

It's not easy asking for help, but there comes a time when your pride must be set aside. That time has come for me. It is very humbling, but I am determined to get back on track and get out of debt once and for all.

oh Tracy
I am so sorry! It sounds like you are doing what has to be done, so just keep your head up and get through it.

it will get better, I do know how hard it is in the mean time.

Hang in there Tracy. I know what you're going through. We were there many years ago. I learned a lot of things from that time in my life. I learned to do what I had to do to inexpensively to provide for my family. I made everything from scratch as you do. My boys wanted "bought" cookies, but the neighbors' kids were at our house eating homemade because their moms never made cookies. :-) You have so many thrifty ideas. I have know doubt you'll weather this as we did. Your children will look at this one day as a time when you could take something thrifty & simple and make it wonderful!

It looks like you are doing all you can to get out of this problem so do not feel humble. You are a sweet and kind person and God is with you. Things will get better. I will keep praying for you. God bless, Kathy in Illinois

Oh! I know you will find the fun and creative side of saving money because you are you. I learned to enjoy the challenge of pinching pennies and making it look and feel like we still had money to burn. Really, it's amazing the clever ideas which you can find when you are determined! So though I'm praying things will improve financially for you soon, I'm also praying that you'll enjoy the adventure (and trust me, I've been on that adventure a bazillion times...). Blessings, Debra

Dear Tracy,
How I understand your situation we have this similar situation. We are struggling with so many finacial problems.
We will not be able to solve this untill we sell our house and move on to being moved interstate.
It is difficult and some days are harder than others. Especially with Stephen away so much of our family culture is changing and becomes harder.
I will continue to pray for your situation.
God Bless
Gae

I'm sorry you're family is going through a hard time right now. I know it's not easy to ask for help but when things get better you can be the one offering the help. There's a wealth of info on the internet for various ways to trim your budget and cook from scratch (a big money saver).

Wishing you all the best!

Tracy,
We're struggling right now too. It isn't irregular pay just irregular expenses that are the culprit at the moment.
I had to laugh when I read that you added the solicitation dime to your change jar. I did the same thing this past week!
