Wednesday Happenings

Art: House by the Sea by George Bjorkland

I have this lovely print in my home. If you love Victorian homes and seaside towns, definately check out this artist's work on AllPosters.com.

This morning, Kendall went to work with his Dad. He worked a half day yesterday & was so tired and sore. He helped lay sod & smooth out loads of dirt with a rake. He is learning very quickly the value of a dollar & plans to open a savings account to save most of his money. He will do his schoolwork in the evenings and finish it up on the weekend if needed. Oh, the beauty of homeschooling! To be able to take advantage of opportunities to learn new skills & earn some pocket money to boot!

The girls & I enjoyed a leisurely breakfast of toast and hot cocoa with marshmallows. Yummy! Soon, I'll need to start on my homemaking duties for the day & run a few errands in town after the girls finish their schoolwork. I plan to bake a loaf of bread & a batch of chocolate chip cookies.

Our homeschooling has been fairly relaxed, but next week I'll be adding new subjects & resources. We're reading the Martha series of the Little House books (which is great for history & geography), Poetry, Math, Bible (alternating between Old & New Testament), The Burgess Animal Book for Children, The Usborne Complete Book of Astronomy & Space, Christian Liberty Nature Readers, Copywork, Picture study, Composer study, Nature Journals, Science Experiments, Drawing/Art, Narration, Written reports/Dictation once a week, and their personal Literature choices for free reading. Ambleside Online is a wonderful free resource for homeschoolers.

Wishing you a wonderful Autumn day filled with good things!
